Murray 5K/Walk to Defeat ALS looks to top last year’s success

MURRAY — According to the ALS Association, more than 6,000 Americans are diagnosed with the disorder each year. Only half of those live for three or more years after their diagnosis, while just a quarter live for five or more.

Jennifer Houston, project manager of the ALS Association Kentucky Chapter, said an event planned in town this weekend looks to spread awareness about the disorder while raising money to fight it: the 2017 Murray 5K and Walk to Defeat ALS, held at Murray State University’s CFSB Center.
